I have never had that problem with it, even at full travel...maybe you had the wrong shock?

Absolutely Bomb Proof with endless travel! A bit on the heavy side and front end is very high, but point it down something steep or off a big drop and it really comes into its own! I just love it as its a bit different, never seen another in the UK!
